Hello. I’m Phil Smith and here you will find some info & musings about my CD “All Things Considered,” and my new band ‘The Realistics” and their adventures, including a NEW CD single – ‘My Little Baby.’
Recorded largely at home and other friends’ studios,’All Things’ is a collection of original tunes that took me 6 years to fully realise. I know, I know…but that is not 6 years of continuous recording. This time frame actually represents two different homes, 3 computers and a lot of emerging technology, which I chose to embrace as it came along. I have played & sung most of the instruments and vocals on this record, and that’s another reason things have taken so long. (Certainly, my next LP will be recorded largely live, in a room with The Realistics)
And I have also learned a lot about recording methodology, which I will certainly apply to future recordings.
I released “All Things Considered” @ The Maldon Folk Festival, Australia on Friday Nov. 3 2007 and again a week later @ Ruby’s Lounge, a hip pub venue in the Dandenong Ranges where I live. At the moment I am playing the songs with my band ‘The Realistics’, and we have since written and recorded a brand new CD single. www.myspace.com/filsmythe
